Good Things

Let's look for "GOOD THINGS" in the world! (Little Bright Spots!!) This page is a place to list some of the 'Good Things that we each see happening' each day.  Please use the comment section below to add any 'random acts of kindness' that you have noticed or 'good things' that you have observed happening in our world today. Let's make our days brighter by talking about all the GOOD THINGS!

Here is a start!
Riverton High School Silver Rush picks a charity each year and our students and community raise money (lots and lots of money) for that charity... (in fact RHS has been in Reader Digest and receive national attention because of the good that is done during Silver Rush)

This year they chose a charity that donates needed wheelchairs to individuals. *Past charities include, The Christmas Box, The Road Home homeless shelter for families, etc...

Last week Collin Raye performed at RHS and all the proceeds went to the Haley Bell Bless-ed Chair Foundation. The spirit in that school auditorium that night was AWE INSPIRING! The Spirit was there so strongly testifying of Christ and God's love.... never have I been to a concert where the performer talked more about God and doing good things! Every person there left the high school better off than when they came... below is one of the songs that was sung that night....

Collin Raye - What I Need Lyrics
I knew all the answers
The way my life should go
And when I used to say my prayers
I would tell God so
It seemed he wasn't listening
I thought he didn't care
But lookin' back
It's plain to see
He was always there

'Cause I prayed for strength
And I got pain that made me strong
I prayed for courage
And got fear to overcome
When I prayed for faith
My empty heart brought me to my knees
I don't always get what I want
I get what I need

I'm not sayin' that it's easy
Or that it doesn't hurt
Nothing seems to go my way
Nothing seems to work
These days I'm getting better
At goin' with the flow
Accepting that sometimes the answer
To a prayer is no

'Cause I prayed for strength
And I got pain that made me strong
I prayed for courage
And I got fear to overcome
When I prayed for faith
My empty heart brought me to my knees
I don't always get what I want
I get what I need

Every time I've had a door slammed in my face
In time a better one was opened in its place

I prayed for strength
And I got pain that made me strong
I prayed for courage
And got fear to overcome
When I prayed for faith
My empty heart brought me to my knees
I don't always get what I want
I get what I need
Oh I don't always get what I want
I get what I need

  5. The Miller family took meat that Hayden had earned from winning a contest to a family in need. Hayden, (a very young boy) saw more meat in their freezer and asked Sister Miller if they could bring more!...So they filled up their bag and delivered much needed help and love to this family that day!

  7. Lara Hansen Huff Posted this great experience on Facebook;
Last night at 6 pm my battery died at a park. I had my two boys in the car and when it happened I felt calm not knowing what would happen but that I was going to be all right. I called my husband to see if he could pick up my daughter and it was hard for him to get away from work at the moment and I knew I needed to say a prayer. About a minute later 4 girls pull up right by my car and I asked them if they could give me a jump. The driver had everything and in no time my car was running again and I was only a few minutes late picking up my daughter. I had tears of joy and am grateful that The Lord blesses us and is ever mindful of us and sends angels like those girls who were lost trying to find the place they were going to.

  8. Life doesn’t end just because you have a tragedy—there’s a new mountain to climb. Don’t spend a lot of time sulking over what you’ve lost. Get on with climbing the next mountain.”
Elder L. Tom Perry 's great advice for all of us.

  10. From Elder Todd Christofferson's Biography;
“The Apostles are people I’ve admired and followed and listened to all of my life, and it seemed impossible for me to be one of them,” he said.

He is quick to emphasize that we all rely on the Lord—the same Source of his answers when he was a teenager looking to solidify his testimony. “I am a great believer in the power of prayer,” he says. “We can always turn to prayer. Sometimes it’s all we have left, but it’s always sufficient for the need.”
