Our dear friend Karla (Brown) Bradshaw passed away Sunday night at 7:00pm from a heart attack.  Her husband called Bishop Ford to let us all know so we could get the word out to all her friends in the Ward and Stake. (Karla got married about 1 1/2 years ago and moved away with her new husband Jack-- Bishop Ford was the Bishop at the time)

Life is so precious, and so important to live to the fullest - enjoying our precious time on this earth as we learn and grow - - how important it is also for each of us to express our feelings to those around us, letting them know of our love for them -  and to clear up any mistakes in our past so we are ready to meet God when our time comes to leave. Her death serves as a reminder that we all need to be prepared, full of love and ready with no regrets for none of us know when our time on earth will be done.
1953 ~ 2013
Karla Bradshaw, passed away February 24, 2013 while surrounded by her family. She was born December 14, 1953 in Newburgh, New York , the daughter of Anthony and Winnie Capitano. Karla is survived by, husband, mother, sisters, Terry Bird, Lynn (Marv) Graham, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

Million Dollar Potatoes

8 med  potatoes ( peeled if desired  and sliced thinly-I use my  processor. I use red potatoes and I don’t peel them…just cut off any funny stuff. )
2 pints whipping cream

2 tsp salt or to taste

Pepper to taste
Spray  a 3 qt casserole with Pam.  Lay  a thin layer of potatoes in the bottom.  Pour over some cream, then  season well with salt and pepper.  Keep repeating the  layers.  Be sure to season each one and don’t skimp on the salt.    Be sure the top potatoes are submerged in the cream. (I have had to add a little milk sometimes and it was fine.)  Bake  uncovered  at 325 degrees for 2 ½  to 3 hours.  If they  brown too much, cover.           Serves about 6-8                          My Favorite Potatoes!

If you have a favorite slow cooker recipe (or recipes) you would like to share, please email them to Cindy Denos at cindykd93@hotmail.com (or hand deliver) by February 20th.  Thanks!

Visiting teaching is really so much more than a visit or a thought. It's how we connect with one another and have someone to rely on, someone to help, someone to turn to when things fall apart, someone who wants us to draw closer to the Lord. Visiting teaching is the heart and soul of Relief Society.
~Bonnie D. Parkin

OUR SISTERS
Sister Cheryl Roundy passed away on Thursday at 12:45 in the afternoon,  surrounded by family and friends, - while holding her husbands hand for nearly every minute of her final days spent here on earth!  The family wants each of us to  know how grateful they are for our support, love and fast on Cheryls behalf and expressed how thankful they are that she no longer has to suffer. It is a hard time for the family but also a peaceful, thankful time. God  answers prayers.  This was Cheryls answer. His will  came quick and in a way fitting for one of His special & valiant daughters who had fought a tough fight- Funeral Services will be held in Roosevelt, Utah with a special memorial in Kaysville, UT shortly after...for her former 6th grade students,  parents, and teachers/faculty that she worked with so they can celebrate her life.

December Topic:
Family Life &/or Marriage and Courtship

Do you remember a favorite family recipe?  What is it - can you write it down?
or
Do you remember the very first time you saw your husband? What was your first impression? What attracted you to him? Describe the situation and feelings you had.
BRIGHT SPOT
"Part of the purpose for telling the story of Christmas is to remind us that Christmas doesn't come from a store. Indeed, however delightful we feel about it, even as children, each year it 'means a little bit more.' And no matter how many times we read the biblical account of that evening in Bethlehem, we always come away with a thought—or two—we haven’t had before....I, like you, need to remember the very plain scene, even the poverty, of a night devoid of tinsel or wrapping or goods of this world. Only when we see that sacred, unadorned child of our devotion—the Babe of Bethlehem—will we know why... the giving of gifts is so appropriate" ~Jeffrey R. Holland

“It is not a sacrifice to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is never a sacrifice when you get back more than you give.  It is an investment. And the living of the gospel of Jesus Christ becomes a greater investment than any of which we know because its dividends are eternal and everlasting.”
 ~President Gordon B Hinckley
OUR SISTERS
Congratulations to Ellen Ford and her family on the marriage of  Preston and Mckenzi  in the Manti Temple yesterday.
Thank you to all those who brought food, or in many other ways, helped with the funeral and passing of Sister Verda Withers. It was a beautiful service and luncheon-a very tender spirit was felt through out.  Another testament of how Heavenly Father is in charge,  giving us the opportunity to feel that thinning of the
veil as someone passes ... and to refocus on how great this life is and what really matters most.
JOURNAL –PERSONAL HISTORY  PROMPT

Where did you live when you were growing up?  Describe your home (s) and something you remember about that.
